FAQs

Got Questions? We've Got Straight Answers.

From council requirements to pricing, here's everything North Auckland homeowners and businesses ask us most.

Does Auckland Council really require my septic tank to be inspected every 3 years?

Yes. Since 2023, Auckland Council requires all older septic tank systems to be inspected and emptied every 3 years. The Council will send you a letter when your inspection is due and will follow up until it is completed. Ignoring these letters risks Council intervention. We are fully certified to carry out the inspection and lodge the report directly with Auckland Council on your behalf.

What areas do you service?

We service all of North Auckland from the Auckland Harbour Bridge north to Matakana, and from Bethells Beach and Muriwai in the west across to Warkworth and Puhoi in the east. This includes the North Shore, Rodney District, West Auckland, Helensville, Silverdale, Orewa, Kumeu, Whangaparaoa and everywhere in between. If you are unsure whether your property falls within our service area, give us a call on 027 239 2167.

How much does a septic tank empty and council inspection cost?

We have a standard price for tanks up to 5,000 litres. Additional costs may apply for tanks larger than 5,000 litres, difficult access, buried lids that need digging up, longer hose runs, or properties at the outer edges of our service boundary. The council inspection report is an additional cost on top of the standard clean. The best way to get an accurate price is to request a free quote and tell us as much as you can about your system.

How do I know if my septic tank needs emptying?

The most common signs are slow-draining sinks and toilets, unpleasant odours around your property, pooling or soggy ground near your tank area, gurgling noises in your pipes, and receiving a letter from Auckland Council. If you are experiencing any of these, do not wait. Call us now on 027 239 2167.

What is the difference between an old school septic tank and a modern treatment system?

An old school septic tank is a basic holding tank for household wastewater. Modern systems such as Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS) are more advanced and typically need servicing every 6 months to comply with warranty requirements. Older style tanks are required by Auckland Council to be serviced every 3 years. We service both types across all of North Auckland.

How often does a commercial grease trap need to be cleaned?

Auckland Council requires commercial grease traps to be cleaned regularly, typically every 3 months depending on the volume of waste your kitchen produces. Restaurants, cafes, takeaways, hotels, and canteens all have different cleaning frequencies based on how busy the kitchen is. We can set up a scheduled maintenance plan so you never miss a clean and always stay council compliant.

Can I empty my septic tank through the mushroom vent?

No. A septic tank cannot be properly cleaned through the mushroom vent. Full access to the tank lid is required to carry out a thorough clean and empty. If your lid is buried, we can dig it up as part of the service, though this will incur an additional cost. We will always advise you of any extra charges before we begin work.

Do you provide emergency callouts?

Yes. We operate from 7am - 5pm, 6 days a week. If you have a septic overflow, blockage, or grease trap emergency, call us immediately on 027 239 2167 and our team will respond as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to your home or business.

Will you send the council inspection report directly to Auckland Council?

Yes. As an Auckland Council affiliated provider, we lodge your inspection report directly with the Council on your behalf. If you would like a copy of the report for your own records, simply let us know when booking and we will send it through to you once the Council provides us with the PDF.

How do I pay and when is payment due?

Payment is required on completion of the job. Our trucks carry EFTPOS so you can pay on-site at the time of service. An invoice will be provided upon payment. Please note that a cancellation or callout fee will be charged if you cancel after the truck has already been dispatched to your job.
