  • Visual inspection - we assess the condition of baffles, inlets, outlets, and structural integrity
  • Site left tidy - no mess, area restored to original condition
  • Safe waste disposal - all waste transported directly to a licensed treatment facility
  • Service record - documentation of work completed and any observations noted
  • Council inspection available as an add-on - if your three-year inspection is due, we can complete it in the same visit"

Why Regular Septic Tank Emptying Is Essential

Your septic tank works silently under your property every single day, processing the wastewater from your toilets, laundry, kitchen, and bathrooms. Like any hardworking system, it needs regular maintenance to keep functioning safely and effectively.

Over time, solid waste accumulates at the bottom of the tank and forms a thick crust at the surface. If left unchecked, this build-up reduces the tank's capacity, causes blockages, forces wastewater back up into your home, and eventually leads to overflow into your soil and groundwater. The consequences are not just unpleasant - they can be costly, environmentally damaging, and a genuine health hazard.

For older systems, Auckland Council requires a service every three years as a minimum. Modern Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS) require servicing every six months to comply with manufacturer warranty standards. I SUK UP Ltd can advise on the right frequency for your specific system and set up a scheduled maintenance plan so you never have to think about it again.

With over 37 years serving North Auckland, our team brings unmatched local knowledge, modern trucks, and a genuine commitment to leaving your system properly serviced, compliant, and performing at its best.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often should I have my septic tank cleaned and emptied?

For older traditional systems, Auckland Council requires a minimum service every three years. Modern Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS) should be serviced every six months to maintain warranty compliance. The right frequency for your system depends on tank size, the number of people in the household, and what goes down the drains. We can advise you on the ideal schedule during your first service.

Can I watch you work, and how long does it take?

Absolutely - many homeowners are curious to see the process. A standard clean and empty typically takes 30 to 90 minutes depending on tank size, accessibility, and how full the tank is. We'll always explain what we're doing and flag anything worth noting about your system's condition.

What if my tank lid is buried?

Many older tanks have lids that have been buried or grown over. We are unable to service the tank through the mushroom cap alone - the full lid must be accessed. If your lid is buried, please let us know when booking so we can bring the right equipment and quote accordingly for the additional dig-up work.

What should and shouldn't go into my septic tank?

Your septic tank should only receive toilet paper and human waste. Items such as wet wipes, sanitary products, cooking oils, harsh chemicals, and food scraps should never enter the system. These materials disrupt the natural bacterial breakdown process, cause blockages, and significantly shorten the life of your system - and some will incur additional cost at service time.

Will you add a council inspection to the same visit?

Yes, and we'd recommend it if your three-year inspection is due or approaching. Combining both in one visit saves you time and reduces cost compared to booking separately. Simply mention it when requesting your quote and we'll factor it in.

Do you provide a scheduled maintenance plan?

Yes. We strongly recommend setting up a regular maintenance schedule tailored to your specific system. This removes the guesswork, ensures compliance, and protects your system long-term. We'll remind you when your next service is due and make the booking process straightforward every time.
